Ellendale (1955-?) is the name of a 10-phase housing development in the Friendly Neighborhood of Eugene, Oregon.

For the first part of the 20th Century, the area now known as the Friendly Neighborhood was mostly undeveloped pasture and was the site of significant water drainage from the surrounding hills. Occasional farmhouses and orchards were present as well. A good portion of this land was owned by a woman named Georgia Ellen Dale. She is known to have operated a showhorse stables named Ellendale Acres from approximately 1950 to 1955 at 26th & Chambers. The manager/trainer at this facility was named William Lyock (This information courtesy Lane County Historical Society). Johnson's Eugene-Springfield Lane County Directory for 1956 lists a residence for Georgia E Dale at 675 E 11th Avenue in Eugene.

In 1955, the plat for the Ellendale original phase was laid out. The Ellendale Dedication reads:

"Know all men that I Georgia Ellen Dale a single person am the owner in fee simple of the afore described tract of land and that I layout and subdivide the same as shown on the annexed plat and do hereby dedicate to the free use of the public the streets and easements as shown hereon to be used as such forever, in witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this 15th day of March 1955.
- Georgia Ellen Dale."

The original Ellendale subdivision was followed by nine Ellendale "Additions". In total, 256 lots were created. The original Ellendale was planned to include 92 lots, however one lot was "sacrificed" over time to allow one block to have fewer but larger lots. The realized 91 lots in the original Ellendale development feature a variety of mostly newly-constructed, single-level ranch houses. There is evidence that some older houses were moved to lots within Ellendale too.

An advertisement from the Eugene Register Guard (dated Sunday, February 26th, 1956) describes the Ellendale project as "the $5,000,000 planned neighborhood of 400 fine homes...as it will appear when completed in 1961".

As land usage evolved over time, street names changed as well. A map of the Friendly Neighborhood dated 1910 shows the familiar Friendly Street, however nearby Adams Street is labeled "Bessie" and Jackson Street is identified as "Susie".

The former Eugene Air Park once partially occupied the land to the north of Ellendale. Westmoreland Park replaced it in 1954. Originally, a runway ran parallel to Chambers Street on the east side. A second runway ran from near the intersection of 18th and Chambers on a diagonal to the southeast.
